R454B is a hydrofluoroolefin (HFO)/HFC blend composed of R32 and R1234yf, designed as a long-term replacement for R410A in air conditioning and heat pump systems. With a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of approximately 466, R454B offers a 78% reduction in GWP compared to R410A, while maintaining similar pressure, capacity, and energy efficiency characteristics.
This mildly flammable A2L-class refrigerant has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and meets current U.S. EPA SNAP approvals, as well as international environmental standards such as the Kigali Amendment. R454B is optimized for use in new equipment engineered for A2L refrigerants and is not intended as a retrofit solution for existing R410A systems.
R454B is compatible with synthetic lubricants such as POE oils and is suitable for a wide range of HVAC applications, including rooftop units, split systems, heat pumps, and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems. It is supplied in DOT-approved steel cylinders with appropriate A2L labeling and safety instructions.
Applications:
✅Residential HVAC Systems: Ideal for new air conditioning and heat pump systems designed to comply with low-GWP requirements.
✅Commercial Rooftop and Split Systems: Suitable for light commercial HVAC units transitioning away from R410A.
✅VRF and Heat Pump Systems: Well-suited for next-generation variable refrigerant flow systems and energy-efficient heat pumps engineered for A2L refrigerants.
